Removal of amalgam/silver fillings and replacement with natural tooth colored fillings. The tooth-colored fillings are a bonded composite restoration that actually bonds to the underlying enamel and dentin. These bonded fillings are vastly superior to the metal fillings (amalgram) of the past. Unfortunately, we frequently discover decay under the old metal fillings ( they have no water-tight seal) and fractures of the underlying tooth are common.
